1. Nobody is better than you

Nearly everyone has a dream that they want to achieve in life, but instead of making it happen they settle with living vicariously through other people. Vicariously living through others means watching other people live the life that you envisioned for yourself. Make up your mind to stop wishing you were the man, and become the man (or woman). Let other people live vicariously through you.

There is no reason why you should not be the star in your own movie. You have every right to live like the people you admire, and you can if you are truly committed.

2. Commitment equals results

To rapidly increase your chances of success in any endeavour it’s essential you increase your commitment towards your goals.

Actor Shia Labeouf is a perfect example. When he prepared for Wall Street 2 he was giving assignment by director Oliver Stone to work as a financial trader before he acted it on screen.

So he took massive action, he went down to Schwab office, set up his series 7(stockbroker) exam, and took out $20,000 of his personal money knowing absolutely nothing about trading. He became obsessed with trading, trading anywhere and everywhere even on his cell phone. When he was not trading he was seeking advice from experienced brokers including financial genius George Soros.

Eventually, Shia Labeouf transformed his original investment of $20,000 to $650,000!
You might be wondering how is this possible; anything is possible if you make your goal an absolute must and develop the compulsion to make it come true.

3. Fall in love with rejection; it’s the pathway to massive success

The way to excel in life is to see success partly as a numbers game. This means that the more times that you take a shot, the more chances you have of scoring. In Samuel Goldwyn’s words, “the harder you work the luckier you get.”

In our book, we interviewed multi-millionaire entertainment entrepreneur and the founder of NVA holdings C hris N-athaniel. Here he explains the importance of overcoming rejection. In his words, “When I tried to get in the industry you know it was completely impossible if you don’t have a track record, nobody knows who you are, nobody cares, no one’s going to take your call, so you’ve got to create your own heat. We faxed every single record label in the planet; I think everybody got one of our faxes, UK, America, we said look we’re a company, we can take your artist around and tour manage them and all that sort of stuff and we got no responses. We must have sent out thousands – phoning everybody, no one wants to take your call then luckily we got one response and it was this record label”.

4. Fake It Till You Make It

If you want to become successful you need to act the part before you are the part. All those who are great follow this principle which is rooted in biblical teachings, Proverbs 23:7, “As he thinketh in his heart, so is he”.

The founders of the world’s most successful advertising agency, Saatchi and Saatchi used this principle. Before reaching the highest form of business success, the company was founded by brothers Maurice and Charles Saatchi in 1970.

In their earlier years, finding large clients was difficult, as they did not have a proven track record – unlike their competitors. To persuade clients to join their agency, the brothers would hire out large offices and models to act as staff to build up the perception of a globally successful brand. This method worked. This illusion was persuasive in convincing large companies to let Saatchi & Saatchi handle their business campaigns, including the British Conservative party, British Airways and many more global companies.

5. Start small 

Starting a business can be challenging without financial backing or good contacts, but if you are prepared to work hard and work smart, you can build your business up into something special. Most of the successful Fortune 500 companies today started from humble beginnings, including billionaire companies like Apple, Microsoft, eBay and Google – they all started in tiny garages and dorm rooms.

6. Ignore the So-Called Experts

Do not let others’ voices be a limiting factor in what you do. Instead, choose to go beyond what anyone can ever expect of you.So the next time you find people trying to set limitations on yourself, completely ignore it.

It was thought that no human could run a mile in less than 4 minutes. All the doctors and scientists told the public that it was impossible for the human body to complete such a feat. Even top athletes thought it was impossible, but not Roger Bannister. On the 6th may 1954 Roger Bannister ran a mile in 3 minutes and 59 seconds. In less than 4 minutes he disproved decades of “intelligent” people and those who thought they knew better.

7. Get rid of negative friends

The road to success can sometimes be lonely and tough. This is why having positive friends and support systems are vital. The people that you surround yourself with have an impact on how you think, feel and, ultimately, the actions you take. This is why you need to monitor your relationships. They can hold you back if you crowd yourself with the wrong people.

8. Dare To Ask For What You Want

In the words of Madonna, “A lot of people are afraid to say what they want. That’s why they don’t get what they want.”

Never short change yourself; you must place a measurable fee on what your creative talents, uniqueness and hours are worth to you.

Don King quickly came to prominence as boxing promoter; within three years he was the promoter of Muhammad Ali, which is an amazing accomplishment. He is now considered to be one of the most dynamic promoters of all time. The secret to his success was his ability in verbally demanding exactly what he wanted. In his words “I never will forget, when I first started, I went out there, my first big match was Muhammad Ali. So I asked for five million, they said you got to be crazy… They say you’re nuts we’ve never paid 2.5 million to anybody. That’s what they paid to Joe Frazier and Ali at the Garden, I doubled that price and then I went and got it. That’s what they don’t understand: they are afraid to ask for something that they think is preposterous, but the attraction is the most important thing… They don’t want to take the risk of saying that. They don’t want to be looked upon as being loco or crazy for asking for the astronomical prices I ask for. .”

9. Ask empowering questions

Our life is designed by the answers we ask ourselves on a regular basis, so if you ask a disempowering question you will gain a disempowering answer.

Questions that do not help you achieve results, are not worth asking: “Why am I such a loser?” Your subconscious mind will come up with a disempowering answer that matches your question. You may get an answer similar to “because you are not good enough.”

Start asking yourself empowering questions when brainstorming, and then transform your notes into a plan of action.

10. Reward Yourself for every milestone success

It is important to reward yourself for every achievement that you accomplish – small and big. Doing this can only give you the incentive to work hard and become result-orientated. Make it a goal to treat yourself for executing your plan.
